What a busy year! I can't believe that it's July already and that the children are moving on to their next classes. I wish all of them the very best of luck. I know that they will all have as much fun next year as they have had this year.
A huge thank you to everyone for all of the lovely presents that the children have brought in this week and for all the kind messages in cards and letters.
I really hope that you all have a fantastic summer.
See you all in September.
Best wishes.

Congratulations!!
Hope you are all enjoying this gorgeous sunshine! I just wanted to write a quick message to say well done to everyone in the class for their efforts on Sports Day. I was so proud of them all for trying their best.
Also well done to Jared for being last week's Seren Yr Wythnos.
We only have three weeks left in school now and to finish the term off we are going to be learning about holidays in the past. I won't be setting a formal homework task on this, but I would really appreciate it if you could talk to your children about the holidays that you went on when you were a child. How were they the same as the holidays we have today and how were they different? Maybe an older relative could also talk to the children about the holidays that they had? If there are any Nans, Grandads or Great Aunties and Uncles who would be prepared to come into school to talk to the children about their holidays that would be even better!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend and see you all tomorrow!

Noah's Ark Zoo Farm
Welcome back to you all after the Half Term Holiday. We had a very busy first week back with a fabulous trip on Tuesday to Noah's Ark Zoo farm near Bristol. The children thoroughly enjoyed wandering around the farm and managed to pack in a tractor ride, lamb feeding, visits to the play areas not to mention seeing lots of different animals into their day. Unfortunately my camera decided not to work after a couple of shots, so a huge thank you to Mr Sherratt whose camera was working! Here are a few pictures from the day.
We have also been learning about capacity this week and the children had lots of fun comparing the capacity of different conatiners.
We managed to squeeze a couple of mini beast hunts in as well this week. The children had a look around the school to find different mini beasts. We used our bug viewers to get a better look!
Just a quick reminder that on Tuesday next week we have our Class photos and on Wednesday we will be laying our Coin Trail in the morning. So if you have any loose change please send it in with the children by Wednesday. Finally, with Sports Day fast approaching we will be taking advantage of any dry weather next week to practice our races so please remind your child to bring their PE kit including trainers into school each day next week (or leave it in school for the week if possible).
Diolch yn Fawr
See you on Monday.

Summer Term!
Welcome back to all the children. it was lovely to see them all coming in refreshed after the Easter Holidays. We're hoping that the lovely weather we had over Easter will carry on this term as we have lots of lovely outdoor activities planned.
Well done to all the children for their fabulous costumes on Friday. Sorry if we didn't manage to get through all the books that they brought in - it was a really busy day! Thank you also for all your kind donations of books. I know they will be gratefully received in Uganda.
Thanks to everyone who has brought in their permission slip and payment for our trip on Tuesday. Sorry if it was a bit last minute...but the opportunity was too good to miss. We'll be able to find out lots of plant and garden facts to help kickstart our Term's topic which is 'All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small'. Check the blog for photos of what we get up to.
Congratulations to Poppy Dixon for being our first Seren Yr Wythnos winner.
Finally it's time to redo our classroom to fit in with our new theme. We're looking for any white shirts and glasses that you may have spare - they'll be used to make our Investigation Area as authentic as possible! We have already begun to set up our 'Eat and Play' cafe (great name Oliver!) and the children are really enjoying playing customers and cafe owners. However we are a bit low on props so if you have any empty ice cream boxes or anything else that could go in our cafe, I know that the children will appreciate them.
A couple of photos of Friday to finish.
See you tomorrow

Update on life in Class 8
I hope all the mums had a lovely Mother's Day. The children told me all about what they had planned for you and it sounds like you were all going to be spoilt!
Congratulations to Hallie and Ella who have been our last two Seren Yr Wythnos winners. Ardderchog!
We've had another busy couple of weeks in Dosbarth 8. Here are a few pictures to show you what we have been up to.
We are continuing to learn different body shapes and ways of travelling in gymnastics. The children made up sequences using 'Happy Cat', 'Angry Cat', 'Frog', 'Fox' and 'Straight' shapes and movements.
In class we have been learning about weighing using non - standard units such as beads and cubes. We then learnt how to weigh objects using gramme weights.
We have been finding out about electricity. We took photos around the school of objects that use electricity. We then sorted them into ones that use mains electricity and ones that use battery electricity.
We've also been learning how to recognise and make whole, half and quarter turns to the left and to the right. Here we are on our number square playing a 'turning' game. Grace won this one!
I've been busy planting up containers in my garden this afternoon and it reminded me that Dosbarth 8 has two planters in the playground to fill. Does anybody have any spare bedding or vegetable plants that they do not need? We have decided to link one of the planters to next term's minibeast topic, but we're open to suggestions for the other planter.
Finally, all our best wishes go to Kyle who is poorly at the moment. We really hope that you get better soon Kyle. We're all missing you and can't wait to see you back in school again.
See you all tomorrow.

More pictures from RE week.
As promised here are some more pictures of our activities during RE week.
The children were busy decorating blankets for Indian elephants. They chose lots of bright colours to make the blankets look as authentic as possible. You'll be able to see the finished elephants on our classroom window.
A huge "diolch yn fawr" to Mrs Davies who came in on Tuesday to help the children make pancakes. The children loved every minute of it!
Kyle gets ready to turn on the mixer to make the batter. Hope the lid is on Kyle!
Hallie's about to toss her pancake.
Farah is concentrating really hard!
Yum yum! Are there any more?
On Thursday we held our Hindu wedding. Here are some pictures from our wedding album!
Poppy and Ryan, our bride and groom exchange flower gardens.
They walk around the sacred fire.
Posing for a photo with the flower girls.
Our Hindu wedding buffet. The children enjoyed the flat breads and fruit.
More photographs of the wedding will be on show during Parents Evening.
I hope the children enjoyed learning about Hinduism and all their lovely activities. It was certainly a very busy week but well worth it!
See you all tomorrow!

RE week
Firstly I have to say a really big well done to everyone for our Eisteddfod on Friday. I was really proud of how all our Year 1s and 2s performed , both individually and in groups. They remembered all their words and they remembered to smile when they were up on the stage. Bendigedig!
As part of our 'Weather' topic we will be spending the next couple of weeks learning all about India. This week as part of our RE week, we are finding out lots of information about Hinduism and on Thursday we will be holding our very own Hindu wedding. We have a really packed week with lots of lovely activities for the children to do. Here are a few pictures to show you what they have been up to so far.
A very special visitor came today to teach the children about Indian dance.
They all had a good go at some Indian dance moves.
Then they designed a coat for an Indian elephant. Their completed designs will be up on the classroom window soon.
It was a beautiful day so some of the children went outside and drew some Rangoli patterns on the yard. They were really colourful!
Keep checking the blog this week for more pictures of our RE week activities.
See you all tomorrow.
