Thank you so much for all my lovely presents. I am a very lucky teacher!

Christmas concert.

Well - I really am a very proud teacher tonight! You were all fantastic in the Christmas Concert. Beautiful singing, lovely clear speaking voices and big smiles. Judging by the amount of singing that we have had in the classroom over the past few days you have all really enjoyed learning all the concert songs. I'm sure that we'll hear them lots more before the end of term!
A big thank you everyone who helped to provide all the lovely costumes - the children all looked fabulous. Thanks also to those parents who came in to help with dressing the children - it was a huge help having extra pairs of hands to deal with buttons and zips!
We have a busy week next week with the Christmas party, carols around the Christmas tree, not to mention Christmas crafts. It should be lots of fun! I hope that all those children who aren't feeling 100% are better in time to enjoy all these activities next week. Well done to all of you for keeping going through the concert.
See you all tomorrow.

Well Done!

Firstly well done to everyone for learning their concert lines, songs and actions so well. I am very proud of you all!

Can I ask that all concert costumes be brought into school by this Friday (in a named carrier bag please). If anyone is having problems getting a costume, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can sort one out in school.

Also congratulations to Ethan Weatherall for being our Seren Yr Wythnos last week.

See you all tomorrow. Don't forget to wrap up warmly!

Concert preparations!

Well, we are well and truly into Christmas concert season now! The children are doing really well with their parts and a big 'thank you' to all of you who have been helping them to learn their words at home. This week we are beginning to use props to rehearse with, so it will be all about actions and positions on our 'stage'.

'Thank you' to all our Year 2 children who brought in their 3d shapes. I hope they had fun making them! We will be using their work on buildings in our locality and homes in different countries before the end of term.

Lastly a big well done to Annie and Grace who won our last two Seren Yr Wythnos certificates.

See you all on Monday

Mrs Utting-Lawson.

Half Term already!

Hello everyone!
Hope you're all having a good week off - even in the rain! Just wanted to say a big thank you for a lovely first half term. The children have all settled in really well and we've had a really busy 7 weeks. Here are a few pictures of some of our activities.

St Fagans - Our trip to St Fagans was great fun and the children's behaviour was wonderful. They enjoyed looking at all the different houses and thought of lots of questions to ask the guides.
I don't think that they found the inside of the Celtic Hut very confortable!
They thoroughly enjoyed their picnic!
As a follow up activity we had a class wash day. We each had a turn at grating the soap and then washing a sheet from our Three Bear cottage. A washing machine is a lot easier!

Then we each took a turn at beating our class rug - lots of aching arms!
Our Special Rooms - A huge thank you to everyone who donated junk materials and shoe boxes. As you can see they went to good use!
First of all we used multilink to measure our shoe boxes.

Next we used rulers.

We fitted floors, wall covering and then furniture.

The finished product. I think we have a few potential interior designers in our class!

Congratulations to Ben, Oliver  and Luke who have been our last three Seren yr Wythnos winners.

Just a reminder to bring wellies into school next week. It would be great if each child can keep a pair of wellies in school this term, it 'll mean that we can take the children out and about whatever the weather.

Enjoy the rest of the week and see you all on Monday.

What a busy week!

First of all well done to Charlotte Watts who was our Seren Yr Wythnos this week. Our other Seren Yr Wythnos awards this term have gone to Leah King, Cory Boundford and Layla Williams. Well done to you all!

Our Three Bears Cottage is well and truly up and running now and the children are thoroughly enjoying playing in it. Thank you for the donations of bedding and costumes - we now have our three beds, our three bowls and our three chairs. We could still do with some more Three Bears costumes, so if you have anything suitable tucked away we'd be really grateful.

The children are really enjoying learning about materials in Knowledge and Understanding and have been on several walks around the school to spot things made of wood and plastic. They have also been busy labelling wood and plastic objects around the classroom.

We have now moved on from comparing the outside of old and new houses to thinking about the inside. Next week we will be concentrating on how life in the kitchen and cooking has changed. The children will get the chance to make Welsh Cakes during the week (if anyone doesn't want their child to participate in this please let me know) which should be lots of fun!

We will also be starting our designs for our special rooms so please send in your donations of shoe boxes and junk materials.

Looking forward to another fun and busy week.
See you Monday.

Welcome to Class 8.

Hello Class 8. Welcome to our class blog.

I hope that you all had a lovely Summer holiday and that you enjoyed your first week in Class 8. I am really pleased with how the children have settled, both in their new class and also in their new area in the school. We are helping each other to get used to all the new things around us... and I think we are all managing quite well! The children are sharing their time between the class, outside (weather permitting!) and the shared area, where Mrs Porter is helping them to get used to their new routines.

Hopefully you all received our plans for the term today. Reading books have started to go home and by the end of the week all the children will have taken their books home. We are hoping to go on a couple of walks over the next week, so if you could make sure that your child has a waterproof coat with them each day, we will try to grab the next break between showers to take them out and about looking at homes in our area.

Our Goldilocks and the Three Bears home corner is beginning to take shape. The children have already made the wallpaper and our 3 different size bowls are being made this week. We have also had a very kind offer of a play kitchen for the classroom so the children will be able to make that porridge "too hot, too sweet and just right"! If anyone has any unwanted costumes,or children's bedding that we could use in the corner, we would all be very grateful.

If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to come in to see me at the end of the day. I am always happy to listen and will help whenever possible.

Best wishes

Mrs Utting- Lawson
