We have had a very busy few weeks in Class 9. All have settled well - both me and the children! I feel very lucky to have such a lovely class. Mrs Utting-Lawson sends her regards and hopes to see you all after Christmas.
Out topic of 'Ble wyt ti'n byw?" is going well. We have been for a walk around the locality looking at different types of houses. The children were keen to point out where they lived as we passed. We have been reading 'Winnie the Witch' books in literacy and have based many activities round this theme - including writing spells! A popular one was "how to make my sister/brother disappear!"
We will be starting our Big Write on Friday so please ask your children what we have been talking about in school and what we will be writing about on Friday. Remember the more you talk to them about the topic the easier it is for them to write about it.....keep talking!

Welcome to the Summer Term
I can't believe that we are already in the Summer term. This year really has flown by!
Firstly a huge thank you for all the fantastic donations for our role play. It is now finished and the children went in it for the first time today.
As you can see, they are thoroughly enjoying it!
The children have already been really busy this term, writing about their Easter news and about a seaside memory. The Year 2s had a really good go at division last week and I'm sure that they will do well with their division and multiplication homework. We also used all their lovely seaside creature pictures to create some sea creature camouflage art. Unfortunately it has been so wet that we have not managed to try out all the lovely numbered pebbles, but we will on the next dry day that we have! Tomorrow we will finding out about maps and plans- a lovely mini topic which I know the children will enjoy.
Looking forward to seeing all the lovely Book day costumes tomorrow!

Newport Wetlands trip
Wow! What a fabulous day we have just had at Newport Wetlands. The children were all wonderful and thoroughly enjoyed walking around the nature reserve, bird spotting, pond dipping and bug hunting (and of course the park!). They should all be really tired tonight - I know we are! Here are a few photos of our day.
As you can probably tell we really did have a very busy but fun day. Well worth a visit if you have a spare day at Easter. I am sure the children would love to go again!
Just to say a quick thank you to all the year 2s for sending in their homework on time. You all certainly rose to the challenge and found some very unusual African animals to write about. Well done! We'll be adding them to our African A - Z tomorrow.
See you all tomorrow.

Happy New Year!
Welcome back everyone after our Christmas holiday. Hope you all had a fun (though probably not very relaxing!) Christmas.
By now you should all have had our termly overview along with my information letter. I have to say I'm really looking forward to this term's topic - lots of lovely activities to do and new skills to learn. Thank you to all of you who have already sent in pictures for the children's time lines. We'll be getting on with these next week hopefully.
Also a huge thank you for some lovely things that have come in for our Old Bear's Attic role play. This is in the process of 'taking shape'. The children have been busy weaving some spiders webs and are having a go at sewing to make some lovely little spiders ( we don't have scary spiders in our attic!). The storage boxes are beginning to fill up with lots of interesting objects but we still need more so please keep sending things in. We're also going to make a class photo album to go into one of the boxes (every attic has a photo album!).Hopefully it should be up and running properly by next week and the children will be able to tell you all about their adventures in Old Bear's attic!
